Mariska Skirt (KR1004)
The Mariska is an A-line skirt with gently curved hips and soft drape and subtle folkwear-inspired details. View A hits just below knee and has a waistband with high front detail (wonderful for embroidery!), straight hemline and flamenco-style gathered ruffle. View B has a simple contoured waistband, curved high-low hemline and flared flounce. Skirt pattern includes optional lining and can be made using winter or summer weight fabrics.
The Mariska pattern is suitable for intermediate seamstresses, with beautifully illustrated, detailed instructions and diagrams for every step of construction.
PDF pattern comes as a .zip file and includes three PDF files:
- Mariska skirt sewing instructions
- Pattern formatted to print at home on US Letter and A4 size paper
- Pattern formatted to print at a copyshop on 36" or 90 cm wide paper
Instructions include page listings for each pattern piece so you can print only what you need and save ink and paper.
SUGGESTED FABRICS: Skirt body: medium or medium-light-weight fabrics such as silk charmeuse, washed silk, linen, cotton broadcloth, cotton double-gauze, medium-weight or medium-light-weight wools and stable knits, or lightweight fabrics for skirt option with lining such as lightweight silks, lightweight wool, rayon challis, cotton lawn. Choose fabric that drapes well. Optional lining: rayon bemberg, china silk, cotton voile for summer-weight skirts, acetate.
NOTIONS: Thread, 8” invisible zipper, 1/4 yard of light-to-medium weight fusible interfacing for waistband and to reinforce zipper, two large skirt hook and bar sets for the waistband closure.
